Chapter 9: Binding Your Edges
Your final step is to bind off, or cover, the edges of your quilt sandwich. There are several different approaches to this, but for anything without curved edges you’ll use double-fold straight grain binding. Bias binding is needed to stretch around curves without puckering up. Most quilt patterns tell you how to cut the binding for your quilt, as well as how many pieces you’ll need. However, some don’t … and some of you are working off the grid from your own pattern. Let’s have a short math lesson in calculating binding.
